About our Keynote Speaker
Jacob Wagner received his PhD in Urban Studies from the University of New Orleans where he studied the politics of race, public space and memory from 1999 to 2004. Dr. Wagner teaches Urban Planning and Design at UMKC. His research interests focus on the use of equity planning and historic preservation to rebuild urban neighborhoods in Kansas City and New Orleans. Since Hurricane Katrina and the federal flood devastated New Orleans he has been working with local partners, including The Urban Conservancy and the Friends of Lafitte Corridor, to rebuild the city.
