Phanatics,
How are you? I hope this message comes to you in at a good time! Part of being in a family means occasionally going to family members for help. Of course, the invitation is always open on my end — for I’ll help in any way I can if you need it! — but this time, I come to you because ONLY you can help. I trust you the most.
Ironically, it’s not about me. No I’m not in jail (yet) and no I’m not lost. But I come to you with something way bigger than lil’ ol’ Phantom* or even this family. If you happen to have read the Q&A with Jason Harper and I in the Pitch, you’ll already have a leg up on this idea:
A city is much more than the buildings, lights and street signs. It’s much bigger than airports and subways. A city is a community. I believe that we, artists and appreciators of art, have a special responsibity to invest in our community - which in turn invests in our scene, our city and our lives. Why? Because a city’s scene simply does not exist without the harmony of social interaction.
So much is about opportunity. That’s why I’ve been given the special task of facilitating an event that gives BACK to the community. Something we all have benefited from. The event is tomorrow at 9PM at the ScionLAB.
HERE’S WHERE I NEED YOUR HELP -
If you could, please send all of your friends in the Kansas City area a tweet, status update, message, post - whatever - with this:
“Hey, my friend Kemet AKA thePhantom* is putting on an event at the ScionLAB in KC that features an awesome band called MOUTH w/ suprise. They’ll be a nice blend of funk, rock and rap. You should come out! It’s cool because every single proceed will be donated to the Compassion Foundation of Kansas City. That foundation improves the lives of many young children - especially with dental health. It’s only a $3 donation and free watermelon will be provided! For more info just message me or go to http://phantastic.me. Thanks!”
Of course this will help me out a lot, but what’s even more important, is how much it will help these hundreds of young children who only need one more opportunity to better their situations. I challenge you to be that opportunity to help push our scene and, frankly, our nation into a better place than we enjoy right now.
A scene is only as strong as its city. A city is only as strong as its community.
Thank you,
thePhantom*-
